PROGRAM – Sharon Angelo, CareerLink
Sharon started the meeting by letting us know she is no stranger to Rotary as her father serves in the Minersville Rotary Club and she has spoken to them in the past. The PA CareerLink Schuylkill County is a one stop center for individuals and businesses to go to for employment and training. They opened in 1998 as one of the first CareerLinks in the state, and are one of the 62 CareerLinks still serving Pennsylvania. Sharon emphasized that they are not the unemployment office, but rather a service provider for job seekers, employers and training providers.
The employees in their office in Schuylkill County combine for over 250 years iof experience in workforce development. All services are free to users, paid for through tax dollars. They provide counseling, free workshops on such things as resume writing and interview skills, and provide an introduction to computer skills. They have Assessment tools that help employers qualify candidates, and provide labor market information to businesses throughout the County.
We thank Sharon for an informative presentation.
