PROGRAM – Kay Jones, Schuylkill County’s VISION

Kay started her program by thanking Rotary for being named recipient and partner of our Hops, Vine & Dine event both last year and this year.  The funds donated have helped and will help them with their many valuable programs for the County.

VISION started in 1997 with a goal of building a better Schuylkill County.  Currently their focus is on Education, Health, Arts and Community Workforce, and their plan is to bring resources together for projects in these categories.  Examples of upcoming projects that Kay mentioned were helping the County to establish a federally qualified health center with Commonwealth Medical College which would offer assistance with physical, behavioral and dental care needed by residents.  Schuylkill County is the southernmost of 16 counties in the state involved in the project.

Another project currently in the works is Graffiti of War, which will be an art show of approximately 400 images of graffiti created by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The idea is to communicate to people the experience of soldiers through photos.  The event will premiere in Pottsville around Veteran’s Day.

50/50 - Ralph Jeager was the winner.  Congratulations!
