PROGRAM – Gina Gargano, Executive Director Schuylkill County Visitor’s Bureau
Gina Gargano and her staff at the Schuylkill County Visitor’s Bureau tells visitors to Schuylkill County where to go, and why, and how to get there. Tourism is the second largest industry in Schuylkill County, as well as the second largest in the state of Pennsylvania. Last year visitors spent $140 million dollars here as determined by the 10 SIC codes grouped as tourism related. Gina told us people come to Schuylkill County for a variety of reasons, with our combined outdoor attractions being the number one reason, but also to visit our 5 wineries, Yuengling Brewery, and our 17 local Historical Societies, among many other attractions. As she noted, Schuylkill County is within 4.5 hours of 25% of the nation’s population and Pennsylvania is the 4th most visited by driving state in the country.
The bureau promotes member events locally and also promotes the County outside of our area, giving people reasons to choose to visit Schuylkill County.

50/50 - We have a Winner! Congratulations to Frank Peron, who drew the lucky Ace of Hearts, and won over $460.
ROTARY BUSINESS
Hops Vine and Dine - September 22 at the Schuylkill Council for the Arts. We have some great items up for bid including Eagles and Penn State tickets, a golf package, gym membership and message package. Rotarians who have items to donate are asked to see a committee member ASAP. Tickets are $25 and will be distributed early next month.
District Meeting for Foundation, Membership and Public Image in Altoona on September 17. Deadline for reservations is Sept 6.
Mary Sitcoske invited us to a Wine and Tapas party/mixer hosted by the Chamber on August 31 at Genesis Healthcare Schuylkill Center.
